2011 Summer Fellow
Nexgenia, Inc.Nexgenia, Inc. provides smart magnetic nano-particles for in vitro diagnostics (IVD) and life sciences applications. The company holds several newly-licensed patents from technologies developed in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Washington. As a Summer Fellow, Nate worked with Entrepreneurs-in-Residence at the Center for Commercialization (C4C) in collaboration with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE).
Accomplishments with Nexgenia:
- Designed and set-up company website, logo and email accounts
- Composed comprehensive financial projections, including eventual cash flows, terminal value and corporate valuation based on management’s projected assumptions
- Assisted C4C legal counsel in the evaluation of Nexgenia’s freedom to operate under international patent law
- Attended key meetings with potential investors including members of Alliance of Angels and WRF Capital.
- Participated in weekly technology meetings with U.W. scientists to assess viability and scalability of Nexgenia products
- Drafted comprehensive business plan, including assessment of target market and go-to-market strategy
- Presented comprehensive oral and written results and recommendations to C4C staff and Nexgenia management
