Send International SMS Text Messages for Free

May 12th, 2008 · 1 Comment · Business, Marketing, SMS Mobile

I stumbled upon a site today that allows you to send SMS worldwide for free. Super cool idea. The company is called Peekamo, a privately-held corporation based in Toronto Canada allows free text messaging internationally. They also integrate into social networks. The company was founded in 2006 by mobile phone technologist and enthusiast Al Sajoo. Al’s vision was to develop a free text messaging solution that provides comfort, safety, ease of use and most important, no cost text messaging all from the world wide web or a mobile phone.

Guess what? They’re ad supported. The site states, “Peekamo provides this no cost service to the user by including a small targeted “relevant” ad message from our customers and sponsorers in each message. Peekamo ads are non-intrusive and create greater value for both business who want to reach their desired potential customers and consumers who show interests in their products and/or services. Peekamo ads are embedded into messages rather than pushed to the user to avoid spam like behavior of sms text messages that can be seen in many of today’s mobile marketing practices.”

Another company that offers the Free International SMS text messaging is PoIVY.

It was only a matter of time.
